“Learning languages is a promise of peace, innovation and creativity, and will contribute to the achievement of global development goals”
– United Nations Agency for Culture and Education
Eitan discovered his love and talent for languages at the tender age of 16 months! At a time when most children are only beginning to speak, Eitan could recite his alphabets in several languages, including English. His interest in languages and phonetics led him to “study hours and hours” on his own, much to the amazement of his parents.
Eager to support Eitan’s interests, they enrolled him in Agape School of Education to give him the close contact with qualified teachers that he needed. In quick succession, Eitan picked up Thai, Arabic, Greek and even a Georgian language. The coaching approach to teaching used at Agape School of Education allowed him the flexibility and freedom to learn at his own pace, using techniques that worked for him. Many other schools employ a typical, cookie-cutter approach to learning a new language. However, Agape School of Education recognises that children learn best when their interest is cultivated.
We use interesting techniques, like games and songs, and connect personally with our students in order to inspire them to learn. Our ability to appreciate the abilities of different students and cater to them specifically is what led to the development of Eitan’s language learning skills. Using these skills, he managed to explore and pick up a large variety of languages. The potential of a multilingual education has been acknowledged to be useful in education and administrative systems, in cultural expressions and the media, cyberspace and trade by the United Nations.
After exploring many other schools, Eitan’s mother came to the conclusion that “Agape School of Education was exactly what he needs”. Eitan progressed at a remarkable rate and he is now using the skills he learnt at Agape School of Education to further his studies. Although he is only 10 years old now, we know Eitan will accomplish great things in the future because of his strong foundation. This is because, as studies have shown, multilingual knowledge is essential to improving learning, and developing confidence and self-esteem, which are among the most powerful engines of development in young children.
